Fresh, Flavorful Food
Grown Near You
When you buy locally produced food, every dollar goes back into the community, because farmers and their employees make local purchases from area businesses. When farmers are successful in raising food, the economy of our communities and our state improve.
Here are some of the ways you can buy locally produced food.
U-Pick & On-Farm Markets
Strawberries, apples, peaches, pears, cherries, berries, dairy products, baked goods, and more–all at your fingertips. Just about every community in Michigan has pick-your-own farms that are filled with fun and flavor. For a complete list of locations near you, visit the Michigan Department of Agrigulture.
Farmers' Markets
Farmers' markets are springing up all over Michigan. Why? More flavor, freshness, and nutritional value, for starters. Locally grown foods are usually picked within 24 hours of sale–often the same morning. Visit the Michigan Farmers' Market Association to find a farmers' market near you.
Farm Direct
Several restaurants around Michigan buy direct from Michigan farmers. Be sure to ask your favorite restaurants if they participate.
Select Michigan

Many major Michigan grocery stores, farmers' markets, restaurants, retailers, and other food providers buy locally produced food, which can carry the Select Michigan label.
